The Design Vision
The centerpiece of the installation is a fully automated rotating display tower, engineered for seamless product rotation and LED-integrated lighting to highlight key items. Drawing from SSENSE's minimalist yet bold aesthetic, the design incorporates clean lines, premium materials, and subtle motion to draw eyes without overwhelming the space. uMake's in-house industrial designers collaborated closely with SSENSE and Adidas teams, iterating from initial sketches to 3D renders using CAD software. Manufacturing Excellence

Crafted entirely in uMake's state-of-the-art 2,220 m² Montréal facility, the display leveraged our advanced capabilities for precision and efficiency. High-grade aluminum extrusions formed the lightweight frame, while CNC router-cut acrylic panels provided crystal-clear shelving with diamond-polished edges for a premium finish. Custom 5-axis waterjet cutting shaped intricate stainless steel accents, and powder coating delivered a durable matte black exterior resistant to daily wear. Automation components—quiet stepper motors, sensors, and IoT controls—were integrated during assembly, programmed for 360° rotation on a 5-minute cycle. With no minimums and rapid prototyping, uMake completed manufacturing in just 4 weeks, with zero downtime for the SSENSE store.
